shall be paid by the State, except rental and/or purchase costs of terminal devices and the
circuitry necessary thereto tied to the [State Police] DEPARTMENT'S Computer System;
all supplies and other charges connected therewith shall be paid by the law enforcement
agency.

This section is amended to reflect the establishment of the Department of
State Police as a principal department of State government by Chs. 165 and
166, Acts of 1994 and to reflect the status of the head of the Department as a
Secretary of a principal department of State government.

The Department shall collect, analyze, and disseminate information relative to the
occurrence of motor vehicle accidents within the State. The Motor Vehicle
Administration, State Highway Administration, State Postmortem Examiners
Commission, commissions concerned with highway safety, and law-enforcement agencies
of the State shall furnish information relative to such accidents at such times and in such
form as may be prescribed by rule of the [Superintendent] SECRETARY.

(a) Any information, records, and statistics collected pursuant to this subtitle shall
be available for use by any agency required to furnish information. The [Superintendent]
SECRETARY may by rule establish such conditions for the use or availability of such
information as may be necessary to its preservation, the protection of confidential
information, or the circumstances of a pending prosecution.

the Department of State Police as the Secretary of a principal department of
State government in light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994.

The Department shall at least monthly publish statistics concerning the occurrence
and cause of all motor vehicle accidents within the State. The Department shall also
publish periodic statistics of the incidence of crime within the State. No such statistical
report shall name or otherwise identify a particular known or suspected offender. Reports
required by this section shall be distributed to all agencies which contributed information
contained in such reports, to the press, and to all other interested persons. In addition,
the [Superintendent] SECRETARY may prescribe by rule the conditions under which
