36J.

(a) (1) There is a Handgun Roster Board in the Department of [Public Safety
and Correctional Services] STATE POLICE.

(3)     The members of the Board shall be:

(i) The [Superintendent] SECRETARY;

(4)     The [Superintendent] SECRETARY shall serve as Chairman of the
Board.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

Subsection (a)(1) of this section is amended to reflect that the Handgun
Roster Board has been made part of the Department of State Police, since the
Board was staffed and funded by the of State Police.

Subsection (a)(3)(i) and (4) of this section is amended to reflect the status of
the head of the Department of State Police as the Secretary of a principal
department of State government in light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994.

(f) "Law enforcement agency" means the DEPARTMENT OF [Maryland] State
Police, Baltimore City Police, the police of any county or incorporated municipality, and
any sheriff's department or law enforcement agency that has the power to arrest.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

Subsection (f) of this section is amended to reflect the establishment of the
Department of State Police as a principal department of State government by
Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994 and to delete surplus language.

(d) (2) (ii) Of the 7 members of the Board:

2. 1 shall be a member of the DEPARTMENT OF [Maryland]
State Police;

Subsection (d)(2)(ii)2 of this section is amended to reflect the establishment
of the Department of State Police as a principal department of State
government by Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994 and to delete surplus language.

(d) In St. Mary's County, a volunteer fire company or bona fide fraternal, civic,
war veterans', religious, or charitable organization or corporation may conduct or hold a
carnival, bazaar, or raffle and may operate gaming devices which are commonly
designated as paddle wheels, wheels of fortune, chance books, bingo, Nevada cards,
