4-309.

(a) (1) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, a license expires on the
date set by the Board, unless the license is renewed for an additional term as provided in
this section. A license may not be renewed for a term longer than 2 years.

(2)     A limited license to practice dentistry expires on the first anniversary of
its effective date.

(3)     A teacher's license to practice dentistry or a teacher's license to practice
dental hygiene expires on the earlier of:

(i) The date set by the Board, unless the license is renewed for an
additional term as provided in this section; or

(ii) The date when the licensee ceases to be a full-time faculty
member at the institution named on the license.

[(b) At least 2 months before a general license to practice dentistry, a teacher's
license to practice dentistry, a general license to practice dental hygiene, or a teacher's
license to practice dental hygiene expires, the Board shall send to the licensee, by
first-class mail to the last known address of the licensee, a renewal notice that states:

(1)     The date on which the current license expires;

(2)     The date by which the renewal application must be received by the
Board for the renewal to be issued and mailed before the license expires; and

(3)     The amount of the renewal fee.

(c) (1) Before a general license to practice dentistry expires, the licensee
periodically may renew it for an additional term, if the licensee:

(i) Within 3 years before the expiration date of the license, has
practiced dentistry actively:

1.       In this State; or

2.       As a member of a federal dental service;
(ii) Otherwise is entitled to be licensed;

(iii) Pays to the Board a renewal fee set by the Board;

(iv) Submits to the Board a renewal application on the form that the
Board provides; and

(v) Submits to the Board satisfactory evidence of compliance with any
continuing education requirements the Board may require under § 4-205(a) of this title.

(2) Before a teacher's license to practice dentistry expires, the licensee
periodically may renew it for an additional term, if the licensee:

(i) Otherwise is entitled to be licensed;
