CHAPTER 42 AN ACT concerning Calvert County - State's Purple Martin Capital FOR the purpose of designating Calvert County the Purple Martin capital of Maryland. BY adding to The Public Local Laws of Calvert County Section 17-401 to be under the new subtitle "Subtitle 4. County Designations" Article 5 - Public Local Laws of Maryland (1986 Edition and July 1991 Supplement, as amended) Preamble WHEREAS, The Purple Martin, a migratory bird, at one point was considered for WHEREAS, Due to efforts of citizens of Calvert County and others, the Purple WHEREAS, The Purple Martin population helps provide an environmentally sound WHEREAS, Because of Calvert County's unique geographical features, the County SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF Article 5 - Calvert County SUBTITLE 4. COUNTY DESIGNATIONS. 17-401. CALVERT COUNTY IS DESIGNATED THE PURPLE MARTIN (PROGNE SUBIS) SECTION 2.
