10-101. DEFINITIONS.

(A)     IN GENERAL.

IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS INDICATED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived without substantive
change from the introductory language of former Art. 48A, § 166.

(B)     CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION.

"CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION" MEANS A CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION
ISSUED BY THE COMMISSIONER TO ACT AS AN AGENT OR BROKER.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48A, § 166(d).

The term "certificate of qualification" is used consistently throughout this
article instead of the shorthand term "certificate" to refer to the authority to
act as an agent or broker.

The word "Commissioner" is substituted for the former word "State" to clarify
that the Commissioner issues certificates of qualification.

The former phrase "attesting that an agent or broker has met the standards
set forth under this subtitle" is deleted as surplusage.

The former phrase "in this State" is deleted as surplusage.

(C)     TITLE INSURANCE AGENT.

"TITLE INSURANCE AGENT" MEANS A PERSON THAT, FOR COMPENSATION,
