In subsection (b) of this section, the former reference to the Commissioner
employing "assistants" is deleted as unnecessary in light of § 2-104 of this
article, which provides that the Commissioner may appoint staff.

Also in subsection (b) of this section, the term "records" is added for clarity
and consistency with other similar provisions in this revised article. Similarly,
in subsection (b) of this section, the former reference to "papers" is deleted as
unnecessary in light of the comprehensive reference to "books and
documents".

In subsection (d) of this section, the word "actual", which formerly modified
"expenses", is deleted as surplusage.

Also in subsection (d) of this section, the former reference to a "general or
special" valuation is deleted as unnecessary because there are no other kinds
of valuations.

8-463. PUBLICATION OF INFORMATION ABOUT EXAMINATIONS OR INVESTIGATIONS.

(A)     PROHIBITED.

SUBJECT TO SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION, DURING OR AFTER AN
EXAMINATION OR INVESTIGATION OF A DOMESTIC, FOREIGN, OR ALIEN SOCIETY,
THE COMMISSIONER MAY NOT MAKE PUBLIC OR ALLOW TO BECOME PUBLIC A
FINANCIAL STATEMENT, REPORT, OR FINDING THAT AFFECTS THE STATUS,
STANDING, OR RIGHTS OF THE SOCIETY.

(B)     AUTHORIZED.

THE COMMISSIONER MAY MAKE PUBLIC OR ALLOW TO BECOME PUBLIC A
FINANCIAL STATEMENT, REPORT, OR FINDING DESCRIBED IN SUBSECTION (A) OF
THIS SECTION AFTER:

(1)     A COPY OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT, REPORT, OR FINDING HAS
BEEN SERVED ON THE SOCIETY AT ITS PRINCIPAL OFFICE; AND

(2)     THE SOCIETY HAS BEEN GIVEN A REASONABLE OPPORTUNITY TO
ANSWER THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT, REPORT, OR FINDING.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48A, § 343.

In subsection (a) of this section, the former word "pending" is deleted as
unnecessary in light of the word "during".

In subsection (b)(2) of this section, the former phrase "to make such showing
in connection therewith as it may desire" is deleted as unnecessary in light of
the word "answer".
