IN CONDUCTING AN EXAMINATION UNDER THIS SECTION:

(1)      THE COMMISSIONER OR PERSON APPOINTED BY THE
COMMISSIONER SHALL HAVE FREE ACCESS TO ALL BOOKS, DOCUMENTS, AND

THE SOCIETY'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS OR OTHER GOVERNING BODY.

(D)     EXPENSE OF EXAMINATION OR VALUATION.

THE EXPENSE OF EACH EXAMINATION OR OF EACH VALUATION, INCLUDING
THE COMPENSATION AND EXPENSES OF EXAMINERS, SHALL BE PAID BY THE
SOCIETY EXAMINED OR THE SOCIETY WHOSE CERTIFICATES ARE VALUED, ON
STATEMENTS PROVIDED BY THE COMMISSIONER.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48A, § 341.

In subsection (a) of this section, the former reference to the "power of
visitation" is deleted as unnecessary in light of the requirement that the
Commissioner "examine" the affairs of each domestic society.

In subsection (b) of this section, the former reference to the Commissioner
employing "assistants" is deleted as unnecessary in light of § 2-104 of this
article, which provides that the Commissioner may appoint staff.
