53. Boy Jeremiah aged thirteen years, Negro Boy William aged nine years, Negro Boy Milton aged six years, Negro Boy George M. Dallas aged three years, and Negro Infant Girl Mary Elizabeth aged one year the above negroes slaves for life and sound in body and mind To have and to hold the said Negro Man Charles aged thirty six years, Negro Woman Dinah aged thirty four years, Negro Boy Jeremiah aged thirteen years, Negro Boy William aged nine years, Negro Boy Milton aged six years, Negro Boy George M. Dallas, aged three years and Negro Infant Girl Mary Elizabeth aged one year as above bargained and sold unto the said Elizabeth Roberson, her heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns against me the said Josiah Carroll, my heirs, executors and Administrators and against all and every other person or persons shall & will warrant and defend. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this 8.th day of January 1848 Test Robert Bell J. P. Josiah Carroll (Seale) State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit: On this Eighth day of January 1848 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the said County & state personally appeared the said Josiah Carroll and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his Act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged before Robert Bell (Seal) Dorchester County sc.t On this Eighth day of January 1848 then came before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said County Elizabeth H. Roberson and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned in the within Bill of sale is bona fide as therein set forth. Sworn before Robert Bell J. P. Richard Colston Be it remembered that the following Bill of sale was recorded 60 from Ex.d on the 8.th day of January 1848, To wit: James A. Davis Know all Men by these presents that I James A. Davis of Dorchester County for and in consideration of the sum of Ninety seven dollars current money of Maryland to me in hand paid by Richard Colston of said County at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged, And the said James A. Davis has granted, bargained, sold, conveyed & transfered and by these presents does grant, bargain, sell, convey & transfer unto the said Richard Colston, his heirs and assigns a lot of Corn on the farm on which I lately resided and now occupied by Jeremiah Callender and supposed to contain three hundred & fifty Bushels, more or less. To have and to hold the said lot of corn as aforesaid unto the said Richard Colston, his heirs and Assigns to his and their sole use and uses forever against me the said James A. Davis and all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said James A. Davis has hereunto subscribed his name & affixed his seal this seventh day of January one thousand eight hundred & forty Eight. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of James A.
