173. Creek from the main to where Henry Traverse formerly lived, and agree to allow the said Jeremiah L. Pattison and John W. Travers the sum of Three hundred and twenty dollars, current money for the same. Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bounden Jeremiah L. Pattison and John W. Traverse shall faithfully & diligently keep the said Ferry over Slaughter Creek from the main to where Henry Travers formerly lived, from day light to day light from the first of November to the first of March, and from an hour before to an hour after day light for the residue of the year, commencing from the tenth of May 1849, and ending twelve months thereafter, and shall keep constantly & in good order a Scow that will safely carry four Passangers & their Horses at one trip, with two able bodied skilful hands to attend the said Ferry, and shall not charge or receive any greater price for Ferriage than what is allowed by law, then the above Obligation to be null & void, otherwise of force & virtue in law. April 16.th 1849. By order. Test W.m Rea Clk C. D. C. State of Maryland Be it remembered that the following Bond Ex.d from 65 was recorded on the 16.th day of April 1849, To wit: W.m H. Mills & others {Stamp} Know all men by these presents {15 cents} that we William H. Mills, Levin T. Dunnock & Fielder G Jones, of Dorchester County, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland, in the full and just sum of Three hundred dollars, current money of the United States, to be paid to the said state or its certain Attorney; to the which payment well & truly to be made & done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and Administrators, in the whole & for the whole, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated the sixteenth day of April 1849. Whereas the Commissioners for Dorchester County, bu virtue of a supplement to the Act entitled an Additional supplement to the Act entitled an Act to regulate Ferries, have contracted with the said William H. Mills to keep the Ferry over Fishing Creek from Meekins' neck to Hooper's Island, and agree to allow the said William H. Mills the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, current money for the same. Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bounden William H. Mills shall faithfully & diligently keep the said Ferry over Fishing Creek from Meekins' neck to Hooper's Island, from day light to day light from the first of November to the first of March, and |
