Now the Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden John Reed shall faithfully and diligently keep the said Ferry over the North West fork of Nanticoke River Commonly called the Crotchers Ferry from day light to day light from the first of November to the first of March and from an hour before to an hour after light for the residue of the year commencing on the first day of May 1846 and ending twelve months thereafter and shall keep constantly and in good order a scow that will safely carry six passengers and their Horses at one trip with an able bodied and skilful hand to attend the Ferry aforesaid and shall not charge or receive any greater prices for ferriage than what is allowed by law then the above Obligation to be void otherwise of force his Signed, sealed & delivered John x Reed (Seal) in the presence of mark Algernon Thomas J. Richardson Gambrell Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale Ex.d from was recorded on the 7.th day of May 1846, To wit: Matthew Harding Know all men by these presents that I Matthew Harding of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars current money of the State of Maryland to me in hand paid by Richardson Gambrell the receipt whereof I have hereby granted bargained and sold ^and delivered^ to the said Richardson Gambrell the following property to wit three Cows & Calves three yearlings one yoke of Steers one Brown Horse one sorrel hors one ox cart one horse Cart two Beds Bedsteads & furniture one sow and six shoats two ploughs and three Harrows which said property I will warrant & forever defend to the said Richardson Gambrell his heirs and Assigns forever agains me my heirs executors and administrators or any person whatsoever claiming through or under me or any person els In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this fourth day of May 1846 Test Thomas H.
