28-402. OTHER BENEFITS.

A MEMBER MAY BE ENTITLED TO BENEFITS UNDER TITLE 29 OF THIS ARTICLE
OTHER THAN, OR IN ADDITION TO, THE BENEFITS PROVIDED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to provide a
cross-reference to other benefits to which a member of the Local Fire and
Police System may be entitled other than, or in addition to, the benefits
provided under this subtitle.

TITLE 29. BENEFITS OTHER THAN SERVICE RETIREMENT BENEFITS.

SUBTITLE 1. DISABILITY BENEFITS.

29-101. SCOPE OF SUBTITLE.

THIS SUBTITLE DOES NOT APPLY TO THE JUDGES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added for clarity.

As to disability benefits for members of the Judges' Retirement System, see
Title 27, Subtitle 4 of this article.

29-102. DISABILITY RETIREMENT APPLICATION PROCEDURE — GENERALLY.

BEFORE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES GRANTS A RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE FOR
A DISABILITY, AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED TO THE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN ACCORDANCE WITH §§ 29-103 AND 29-104 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is derived without substantive change from
former Art. 73B, §§ 2-404(a)(1)(ii) and (b)(1)(i), 3-404(a)(1)(ii) and (b)(1)(i),
4-404(a)(1)(ii) and (b)(1)(i), 5-404(a)(1)(ii) and (b)(1)(i), 6-403(a)(1)(ii) and
(b)(1)(i), 7-404(a)(1)(ii) and (b)(1)(f), 8-402(a)(1)(ii) and (b)(1)(i), and
10-218(a)(1)(ii) and (c)(l)(i), as they related to a requirement that an
application be submitted before a disability retirement allowance be granted.

In this section, the reference to "complet[ing]" an application is added to state
expressly that which formerly only was implied — i.e., an application must be
completed before it is submitted.

29-103. SAME — WHO MAY SUBMIT APPLICATION.

(A) IN GENERAL.

SUBJECT TO § 29-104 OF THIS SUBTITLE, AN APPLICATION FOR DISABILITY
RETIREMENT MAY BE SUBMITTED:

(1) BY A MEMBER;
