In subsection (b)(2) of this section, the reference to paying "to the Board of
Trustees" is substituted for the former reference to paying into "this pension
system" to conform to other, similar sections elsewhere in this Division II.

In subsection (c)(1) of this section, the word "earnable" is added to modify
"compensation" for clarity.

The reference in the fourth sentence of former Art. 73B, § 5-301(g) to "the
appropriate final adjustment" being made in the year when a member retires
is deleted as implicit in subsection (e)(2) of this section, which requires a
member to pay the additional amount necessary for full credit before the date
of retirement.

In subsection (g)(4) of this section, the reference to a "political subdivision" is
substituted for the former reference to a "municipal corporation" for clarity
and to reflect current practice that also allows the purchase of credit for
service with a county.

23-309. CREDITABLE SERVICE — IN GENERAL.

(A)    TYPES OF SERVICE CREDIT.

(1)      FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMPUTING BENEFITS UNDER THIS TITLE,
CREDITABLE SERVICE CONSISTS OF:

(I)       ELIGIBILITY SERVICE AS ADJUSTED UNDER SUBSECTION (B)
OF THIS SECTION; AND

(II). CREDIT FOR UNUSED SICK LEAVE AS PROVIDED IN § 20-206 OF
THIS ARTICLE.

(2)      (I) THIS PARAGRAPH DOES NOT APPLY TO AN OFFICIAL OF A
PARTICIPATING GOVERNMENTAL UNIT.

(II)     AN OFFICIAL WHO WAS APPOINTED ON OR AFTER JUNE 1, 1980,
MAY NOT RECEIVE CREDITABLE SERVICE IN THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION SYSTEM
FOR ANY YEAR IN WHICH THE OFFICIAL WORKS FEWER THAN 130 DAYS.

(B)     ADJUSTMENT OF ELIGIBILITY SERVICE.
