1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, §§ 2-407(b)(2), 3-407(b)(2), 4-409(b)(2),
5-409(b)(2), 6-406(c)(2), 7-407(b)(2), 8-404(c)(2), 9-104(g)(2), and
10-220(b)(2).

Throughout this section, the references to the "Board of Trustees" are added
to clarify who makes the payments.

In subsection (a) of this section, the reference "actuarial equivalent" is added
for clarity.

In subsections (a) and (d) of this section, the references to "a single payment"
are added for clarity.

In subsections (b), (c), (e)(1), and (f)(1) of this section, the phrase "to the
designated beneficiary for the designated beneficiary's life" is substituted for
the former phrase "continued throughout the life of and paid to the retiree's
designated beneficiary" for brevity.

In subsection (g) of this section, the former title "Option 4 - Special" is
redesignated as "Option 7" to avoid confusion; Correspondingly, in subsection
(d) of this section, the former title "Option 4 - General" is redesignated as
"Option 4";

Also in subsection (g) of this section, the phrase "according to a method of
payment requested before the retiree's retirement" is substituted for the
former phrase "some other benefit or benefits" for accuracy and clarity.
Similarly, in subsection (g)(1) of this section, the reference to "the method of
payment" is substituted for the former reference "other benefits together with
the reduced allowance" for brevity and clarity.

Also in subsection (g) of this section, the word "beneficiaries" is deleted in
light of the use of "beneficiary" and Art. 1, § 8 of the Code, which provides
that the singular includes the plural.
