S.B. 761                                                  VETOES

(3) IF THE ELECTIVE BODY REDUCES, MODIFIES, OR REJECTS THE
REQUEST FOR FUNDS FOR THE EMPLOYER, NOT LATER THAN 20 DAYS AFTER THE
FINAL BUDGET ACTION BY THE ELECTIVE BODY, EITHER PARTY TO THE
AGREEMENT MAY REOPEN NEGOTIATIONS ABOUT THOSE ITEMS INCLUDED IN THE
AGREEMENT THAT WERE REDUCED, MODIFIED, OR REJECTED.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.

May 26, 1994

The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.

President of the Senate

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21401

Dear President Miller:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 761.

Senate Bill 761 would prohibit a person from knowingly buying, selling, or transporting
for sale or profit any human remains or associated funerary objects, except under
specified circumstances.

House Bill 141, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 26,
1994, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 761.

Sincerely,

William Donald Schaefer

Governor

Senate Bill No. 761

State; defining a certain term, and generally relating to prohibiting certain persons
from trading in human remains and associated funerary objects under certain
