Defined term: "Member" § 20-101

(OO) STATE POLICE RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

"STATE POLICE RETIREMENT SYSTEM" MEANS THE STATE POLICE
RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added to avoid repetition of
the longer title of the system.

(PP) STATE SYSTEM.

"STATE SYSTEM" MEANS A RETIREMENT OR PENSION SYSTEM THAT IS
INCLUDED IN THE STATE RETIREMENT AND PENSION SYSTEM UNDER § 21-102 OF
THIS ARTICLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly was Art. 73B, § 1-101(w).

The term "State system" is substituted for "system" to avoid confusion with
references to other retirement or pension systems.

The only other changes are in style.

(QQ) TAXABLE WAGE BASE.                                                             

"TAXABLE WAGE BASE" MEANS, WITH RESPECT TO EACH CALENDAR YEAR,
THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF ANNUAL EARNINGS FOR EMPLOYEES SUBJECT TO TAX
UNDER THE FEDERAL OLD AGE, SURVIVORS, AND DISABILITY INSURANCE ACT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly was Art. 73B, §§ 4-101(j), 5-101(i),
8-101(h), and 10-201(k).

The reference to the "federal Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance
Act" is substituted for the former reference to the "Federal Insurance
Contributions Act" for accuracy.

The only changes are in style.

(RR) TEACHERS' PENSION SYSTEM.                                                                 

"TEACHERS' PENSION SYSTEM" MEANS THE TEACHERS' PENSION SYSTEM OF
THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

(SS) TEACHERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.
