1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

the Secretary of Personnel. An employee so commissioned and assigned law enforcement
duties has and may exercise the powers of a Natural Resources police officer or a law
enforcement officer of the State. These powers may be exercised upon:

(1)     Properties owned by the State and managed by the Department;

(2)     Railroad rights-of-way and utility properties which are not owned by the
State, but which traverse properties owned by the State and managed by the Department;

(3)     All public and private properties which are within the boundaries of
State properties managed by the Department;

(4)     All waters of the State within one mile of the shoreline of all properties
owned by the Department;

(5)     All public and private property adjoining property owned by the State
and managed by the Department;

(6)     All park property in Maryland owned by the federal government; and

(7)     Any property in Maryland for the purpose of executing a warrant that
has resulted from law enforcement activities on property on which a forest, park, and
wildlife ranger may exercise law enforcement powers.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That law enforcement officers
of the State Forest and Park Service employed by the Department of Natural Resources
are, entitled to the same longevity percentage increases in pay as those allowed to other
law enforcement officers employed as Natural Resources police by the Department of
Natural Resources.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Secretary of Personnel
shall modify the State's pay plans to provide for the salary adjustments required by
Section 2 of this Act.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the employee affected by
this Act is entitled to each longevity increment for which the employee qualified, based on
the employee's pay when the employee reached the requisite level of longevity.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the longevity percentage
increases under this Act shall be paid as follows:

(1)     increases that are based on the completion of 9 years of service shall be
paid in Fiscal Year 1995 1996 and thereafter; and

(2)     increases that are based on the completion of 13 or more years of service
shall be paid in Fiscal Year 1996 1997 and thereafter.

SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1994.
