SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1994.

(House Bill 1559)

AN ACT concerning

General Assembly - House of Delegates - Three-or-More County Multimember
Subdistricts - Residency Restrictions and Voting

FOR the purpose of prohibiting more than one delegate from residing in the same county
in a multimember subdistrict that contains more than two counties or parts of more
than two counties; authorizing certain voters in certain legislative subdistricts to cast
a vote for a specified number of candidates without regard to the county of
residence of the candidates; and generally relating to the residency requirements for
delegates representing a multimember subdistrict that contains more than two
counties or parts of more than two counties.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

2-201.

(a)     The State of Maryland is divided into 47 districts for the election of members
of the General Assembly of Maryland.

(b)     Each legislative district shall elect 1 Senator and 3 Delegates.
