SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 38A - Fires and Investigations
8.
(N) (1) THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL SHALL:
(I) IN COOPERATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL
SERVICES DEVELOP FOR EACH PROPERTY OWNED OR LEASED BY THE STATE:
1. FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES, INCLUDING FIRE DRILLS AT
LEAST ONCE EVERY 60 DAYS; AND
2. EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES IN CASE OF AN
EMERGENCY; AND
(II) REVIEW AND APPROVE THE FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES AND
EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES ESTABLISHED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF
GENERAL SERVICES.
(N) (1) THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL, ASSISTANT STATE FIRE MARSHALS, AND
SPECIAL DEPUTY FIRE MARSHALS SHALL DEVELOP FOR EACH PROPERTY OWNED
OR LEASED BY THE STATE:
(I) FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES, INCLUDING FIRE DRILLS AT LEAST
QUARTERLY; AND
(II) EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES IN CASE OF AN
EMERGENCY.
(2) INFORMATION CONCERNING FIRE SAFETY AND EMERGENCY:
EVACUATION PROCEDURES SHALL BE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST TO ALL STATE
EMPLOYEES.
