CHAPTER 677
(House Bill 1461)

AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Dump Service Registration

FOR the purpose of providing that certain vehicles registered prior to the effective date
of this Act may continue to operate for a specified period of time under certain
provisions of law subject to certain conditions; making certain provisions of this Act
contingent on the enactment of certain federal authorizing legislation; permitting
certain types of vehicles to travel a certain distance until a certain date; providing
for termination of certain provisions of this Act if Congress fails to enact certain
legislation within a certain time; permitting the Department to submit a certain
report to the General Assembly under certain conditions; providing for a delayed
effective date for certain provisions of this Act; and generally relating to the
operation and registration of dump service vehicles.

Section 6, 7, and 9

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

13-919.

(a)      On application, the Administration shall issue a special Class E "dump service
registration" to any applicant who certifies that the vehicle for which the. application is
made is a Class E (truck) vehicle that:

(1)      Is designed to haul cargo and to self-unload by gravity or mechanical
means; and

(2)      Is to be used to haul feed or other loose materials in bulk.

(b)     The maximum gross weight limitation for a vehicle registered under this
section is for a vehicle with two axles — 40,000 pounds.

(c)      (1) The maximum gross weight limitation for a vehicle registered under this
section after [June 1, 1994] DECEMBER 1, 31, 1994 is for a vehicle with three axles —
55,000 pounds.
