Article - Transportation

(A)     The Secretary shall implement a program to control the spread of phragmites,
where appropriate:

(1)     Along the rights-of-way of the State highway system; and

(2)      On other lands that the Department owns or controls.

(B)     THE DEPARTMENT SHALL STUDY AND ANALYZE THE PROGRESS MADE IN
THE CONTROL IN THE SPREAD OF PHRAGMITES ON LANDS THAT THE DEPARTMENT
OWNS OR CONTROLS.

(C)     THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SHALL ASSIST THE
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES IN PREPARING THE INVENTORY OF
PHRAGMITES IN THE STATE REQUIRED UNDER § 9-503(C) OF THE NATURAL
RESOURCES ARTICLE.

(D)     BY DECEMBER 1, 1994, AND ON REQUEST OF THE COMMITTEES
THEREAFTER, THE DEPARTMENT SHALL SUBMIT A REPORT UNDER SUBSECTIONS
(A) AND (B) OF THIS SECTION ON THE MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL OF THE SPREAD
OF PHRAGMITES TO:

(1) THE ENVIRONMENTAL MATTERS COMMITTEE OF THE HOUSE OF
DELEGATES OF MARYLAND; AND

(2) THE ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE OF
THE SENATE OF MARYLAND.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.

AN ACT concerning

Domestic Violence Medical Response Act

FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to develop
and implement a Pilot Domestic Violence Protocol Program in a certain number of
hospitals and to the extent practicable in certain areas of the State; specifying the
purpose and requirements of the Program; authorizing the Department to contract
with certain entities to develop and implement the Program; requiring a certain
report by a certain date; terminating the Program on a certain date; making the
implementation of this Act contingent on the availability of certain money pursuant
to certain applications; and generally relating to a Pilot Domestic Violence Protocol
Program.
