1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1991.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is an emergency
measure, is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health and safety, has
been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, and shall take effect from the date it is
enacted.

AN ACT concerning

Telecommunications Access - Specialized Customer Premises Equipment

Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf - Shopping Malls

FOR the purpose of requiring the owner, operator, manager, or other person having
control of a shopping mall of a certain size to acquire and install certain specialized
custom
er premises equipment telecommunications devices to facilitate
telecommunication by persons in need of such devices; defining a certain term;
specifying certain requirements for certain standards, and regulations to be adopted under
this Act; specifying the intent of this Act;
and providing that certain shopping malls are
subject to this Act.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:                                           

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative Departments

6-603.

(A) The Department of General Services in consultation with the Board and the
Governor's Office for Handicapped Individuals shall establish and administer a program
to assist eligible program participants to purchase specialized customer premises
equipment in accordance with the State budget.
