Ch. 452                                    1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

authority of Carroll and Frederick Counties to levy and collect taxes for public
transportation services.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Transportation
Section 7-801                                 

Annotated Code of Maryland
(1993 Replacement Volume and 1993 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

7-801.            

Anne Arundel County, CARROLL COUNTY, FREDERICK COUNTY, Howard
County, and Montgomery County may:                                                                           

(1)     Levy and collect taxes for:                                 

(i) The organization, operation, and maintenance of public
transportation services; and

(ii) The purchase, sale, construction, maintenance, and operation of
all real and personal property necessary or incidental to public transportation services;
and

(2)     Establish, modify, amend, and abolish special taxing areas for public
transportation services.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.

CHAPTER 452                               

(House Bill 1655)

AN ACT concerning                             

Code Counties - Civil Infractions - Prosecutorial Authority

FOR the purpose of authorizing, subject to certain approval, the State's Attorney to
designate in writing a county attorney and an assistant county attorney in code home
rule counties to prosecute certain civil infractions; and providing that a county
attorney or an assistant county attorney designated under this Act shall have, and be
authorized to exercise, certain power and authority with respect to the prosecution
of a civil infraction.
