AN ACT concerning
Carroll County - Employees - Criminal Background Checks
FOR the purpose of authorizing the County Commissioners of Carroll County to request
the Criminal Justice Information System - Central Repository of the Department of
Public Safety and Correctional Sen/ices to conduct criminal background checks of
certain current or prospective employees of Carroll County or certain current or
prospective employees of a person who has a contract with Carroll County if the
contract involves work in an area that requires security of personnel or files;
requiring the Comptroller of Carroll County to pay a certain fee; making certain
technical changes; making a stylistic change; making this Act an emergency
measure; and generally relating to criminal background checks requested by the
County Commissioners of Carroll County.

SECTION 1. BE - IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
754A.
(a) (1) The County Administrator of Howard County may request A
MARYLAND AND FEDERAL CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK FROM the [criminal records
central repository of the Maryland State Police] CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION
SYSTEM - CENTRAL REPOSITORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND
CORRECTIONAL SERVICES to investigate FOR any prospective employee of Howard
County through the appropriate federal, State, and local criminal history record
information system.
(2) The County Administrator shall pay the fee imposed to obtain federal
criminal history record information.
(b) (1) In accordance with guidelines adopted by the Anne Arundel County
Council, by resolution, the Director of Administration of Anne Arundel County may

records central repository of the Maryland State Police] CRIMINAL JUSTICE
