SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.

AN ACT concerning

Patuxent Institution - Role and Mission

FOR the purpose of revising the role and mission of the Patuxent Institution; specifying
that Patuxent Institution provide remediation programs for youthful eligible
offenders; limiting the number of eligible persons that may enter into remediation
programs at the Institution; specifying that the number of eligible persons that may
be admitted to remediation programs at the Institution may not be exceeded;
removing the authority of certain persons to make certain referrals for evaluation to
the Institution; removing certain authority of a certain board of review; altering the
staff requirements of the Institution; altering the composition of a certain board of
review; repealing certain obsolete provisions; clarifying when certain persons
confined at the Institution under certain sentences may be eligible for parole;
specifying that certain persons serving a certain sentence at the Institution may only
be paroled under certain circumstances; repealing certain transition provisions on
the evaluation of certain persons transferred to the Institution before certain dates;
defining a certain term; making certain stylistic changes; making provisions of this
Act severable; and generally relating to the role and mission of the Patuxent
Institution.
