AN ACT concerning

Workers' Compensation - Benefits for Permanent Partial Disability - Extension of Sunset

Provision

FOR the purpose of delaying the termination of certain changes to the workers'
compensation benefit structure for permanent partial disability in order to continue
to exempt loss of the thumb, fingers, and great toe from the lower tier of benefits;
and generally relating to delaying the termination of certain changes to the benefit
structure for permanent partial disability.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Chapter 591 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1987, as amended by Chapter
11 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1989, Chapter 97 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1990, and Chapter 545 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1992'

Section 8

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Chapter 591 of the Acts of 1987, as amended by Chapter 11 of the Acts of 1989, Chapter
97 of the Acts of 1990, and Chapter 545 of the Acts of 1992

SECTION 8. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the changes made to §§
36(3)(c) and 36(3)(a)(i)2. of this Article, now codified as §§ 9-626, 9-627(b), and
9-628(d) of the Labor and Employment Article, take effect January 1, 1988 and shall
remain in effect for a period of [7] 9 years and, at the end of January 1, [1995] 1997,
with no further action required by the General Assembly, these changes shall be
abrogated and of no further force and effect.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.
