SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 48A - Insurance Code

233.

(A) (1) IN THIS SECTION THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE' MEANINGS
INDICATED.

(2)      (I) "CLAIM" MEANS A DEMAND FOR PAYMENT OR BENEFIT
UNDER AN INSURANCE POLICY OR CONTRACT BY AN INSURED, A THIRD PARTY, OR
ANY REPRESENTATIVE OF THE INSURED OR THIRD PARTY.

(II) "CLAIM" INCLUDES A DEMAND FOR PAYMENT OR BENEFIT
MADE AGAINST THE STATE OF MARYLAND PURSUANT TO TITLE 12 OF THE STATE
GOVERNMENT ARTICLE, TITLE 8, SUBTITLE 1 OF THE STATE PERSONNEL AND
PENSIONS ARTICLE, OR TITLE 9 OF THE LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT ARTICLE, OR
AGAINST THE MASS TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION WHEN ACTING AS A SELF-INSURER
PURSUANT TO § 7-703 OF THE TRANSPORTATION ARTICLE.

(3)      (I) "INSURER" HAS THE MEANING STATED IN § 3 OF THIS ARTICLE.
