AN ACT concerning
Washington County - Salary Study Commission
FOR the purpose of establishing a Washington County Salary Study Commission;
specifying the composition of the Commission; specifying certain procedures
concerning the appointment and operation of the Commission; specifying certain
procedures concerning the appointment and operation of the Commission;
requiring the Commission to hold public hearings and to provide certain notice of
the hearings; requiring the County Commissioners to provide professional staff to
the Commission; requiring the County Commissioners to provide funds for
advertising of the Commission's public hearings; prohibiting certain individuals
from serving on the Commission; requiring the Commission to meet by a specified
date and to study the salaries of certain elected and appointed officials; requiring
the Commission to make certain recommendations to the Board of County
Commissioners of Washington County for review and recommendation; requiring
the Board of County Commissioners to submit the recommendations to the
members of the General Assembly whose districts are within or include part of
Washington County by a certain date; defining certain terms; and generally relating
to the establishment and operation of a Washington County Salary Study
Commission.

WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington County are closely monitoring the
process by which salaries of County officials are determined; and
WHEREAS, The public's confidence in that process will depend on the degree to
which the salary recommendation is removed from the political arena; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Act to create a Salary Study Commission that
is nonpolitical and represents a broad spectrum of the County's population; now,
therefore, ...
