Ch. 19                                          1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(1)      pays the application fee required under § 4-303 of this subtitle;

(2)      passes the practical part of the master barber or [journey] barber
examination given by the Board; and

(3)      provides adequate evidence that, at the time the applicant was licensed
in the foreign country, the applicant was required to pass an examination and meet
qualifications that were substantially equivalent to those then required by the laws of this
State.

(c) To meet a minimum standard of training, the Board may require an applicant
licensed to practice bartering in a foreign country to complete successfully a required
program of training in the. practice of barbering not exceeding 1,200 hours;

4-309.

(a)      While a master barber license is in effect, it authorizes the licensee to
[practice barbering without supervision]:

(1)      PRACTICE BARBERING IN A BARBERSHOP THAT HOLDS A PERMIT;

(2)      PRACTICE BARBERING IN A BEAUTY SALON THAT HOLDS A BEAUTY
SALON PERMIT; AND                                                                                                             

(3)      SUPERVISE AN APPRENTICE BARBER.

(b)     While a [journey] barber license is in effect; it authorizes the licensee to:

(1)      practice barbering in a barbershop that holds a barbershop permit [and
while under the supervision of a master barber]; AND

(2)      PRACTICE BARBERING IN A BEAUTY SALON THAT HOLDS A BEAUTY
SALON PERMIT.

4-310.

(a) [Except as provided in § 4-311 of this subtitle, unless] UNLESS a license is
renewed for a 2-year term as provided in this section, the license expires on the first May
31 that comes:

(1)      after the effective date of the license; and                             

(2)      in an odd-numbered year.
[4-311.

(a) (1) The initial term of a journey barber license is 15 months.

(2)      Before the initial term of a journey barber license expires, the licensee
shall take the master barber examination.

(3)      If a journey barber fails the master barber examination, the journey
barber may renew the journey barber license for additional terms as provided in this
section.
