AN ACT concerning

Asbestos Removal Fund

FOR the purpose of abolishing the Asbestos Removal Fund, administered by the
Interagency Committee on School Construction.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

[5-308.

(a)     There is an Asbestos Removal Fund administered by the Interagency
Committee on School Construction.

(b)     The Asbestos Removal Fund is a continuing, nonlapsing fund that consists of
funds appropriated by the General Assembly.

(c) The Interagency Committee on School Construction shall use the Asbestos
Removal Fund solely to provide grants to county boards for the removal of asbestos or
other health threatening substances from public schools.

(d) Subject to the approval of the Board of Public Works, the Interagency
Committee shall adopt regulations establishing standards for the application for, and use
of, asbestos removal funds.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.
