condition of granting such leave, the Commissioner may require the inmate's agreement
to waive his right to contest extradition proceedings. All such orders must be kept on file
in the Department. Special leave may only be for the purpose of:

(1)     Attending educational programs;

(2)     Improving job skills;

(3)     Attending trade licensing examinations;

(4)     Being interviewed for employment;

(5)     Participating as a volunteer for a governmental agency in an activity
serving the general public;

(6)     Participating in athletic competition; or

(7)     Participating in civic activities beneficial to the inmate and/or the
community.

Occurred: As a result of Ch. 59, Acts of 1991, which repealed subsection (b)
of Article 27, § 700D.

701.

For the purpose of increasing the efficiency in the treatment, management, and
rehabilitation of persons confined in any of the institutions under the control of the
[Department] DIVISION of Correction, there shall be full and complete interchange
between the [Department] DIVISION of Correction and the [Department] DIVISION of
Parole and Probation of records and all pertinent information relating to each of the
persons so confined. It is the duty of [said departments] THESE DIVISIONS to provide
the procedures and methods for the interchange of the records and information as
required by this section.

Error: Obsolete terminology in Article 27, § 701.

Occurred: As a result of Ch. 401, Acts of 1970, which created the
Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and renamed the
Department of Correction and the Department of Parole and Probation and
established them as divisions of the Department of Public Safety and
Correctional Services.

(b) Except as otherwise provided, a court may assign or order a juvenile who is
charged with the commission of a delinquent act, or a criminal defendant who has not
been convicted of a crime of violence, to perform community service:
