Senate Bill No. 379

AN ACT concerning

Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Council - Sunset Extension

FOR the purpose of continuing the Apprenticeship and Training Council in accordance
with the Maryland Program Evaluation Act by extending to a certain date the
termination provisions relating to the statutory and regulatory authority of the
Council; and generally relating to the Apprenticeship and Training Council.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Subject to the evaluation and reestablishment provisions of the Maryland Program
Evaluation Act, provisions of this subtitle creating the Apprenticeship and Training
Council and related to the regulation of apprentices and trainees are of no effect after
July 1,[1994] 2004.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1993.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 380.

This bill would extend the termination date of the Division of Labor and Industry from
July 1, 1994 to July 1, 2004.

House Bill 774, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 27,
1993, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 380.
