1993 JOINT RESOLUTIONS

(1)     examining the feasibility of developing a cooperative agreement between
Maryland and Virginia for the implementation of a regional racing circuit;

(2)     evaluating the benefits to the racing industries of Maryland and Virginia of
developing a regional racing circuit;

(3)     in consultation with the Department of Economic and Employment
Development, studying the economic impact to Maryland and Virginia of adopting a
regional racing circuit;

(4)     identifying any issues that must be resolved prior to implementation of the
circuit; and

(5)     developing any other appropriate recommendations for the implementation of
a regional racing circuit between the horse racing industries of Maryland and Virginia;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Governor designate the Maryland cochairman of the Task
Force; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Governor is requested to send a letter to the Governor of
Virginia asking for the joint creation of this Task Force and "for the designation of 10
representatives of the State of Virginia to serve on this Task Force; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Task Force report its findings and recommendations, in
accordance with § 2-1312 of the State Government Article, to the General Assembly on
or before December 15, 1993; and be it further

RESOLVED, That staff for the Task Force be provided by the Department of
Licensing and Regulation and the Department of Economic and Employment
Development; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded by the Department of
Legislative Reference to the Honorable William Donald Schaefer, Governor of
Maryland; the Honorable L. Douglas Wilder, Governor of Virginia; the Honorable
Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr., President of the Senate of Maryland; and the Honorable R.
Clayton Mitchell, Jr., Speaker of the House of Delegates.
