Ch. 626                                     1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

12.     The Natural Resources Police Force or the Forest and Park
Service Police Force of the Department of Natural Resources; or

13.     The security force of the Department of General Services; or

(ii) In the case of a police officer who has been trained as a drug
recognition expert, if the police officer is a member of, and certified as a drug recognition
expert by the head of one of the law enforcement agencies described in items (3)(i)1
through 13 of this subsection.

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

298.                                                                                                                             

(f) (1) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, law enforcement
officers of the [Toll Facilities] MARYLAND TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY Police, the
Maryland Port Administration Police, or any municipality, or county of this State may
conduct investigations and otherwise enforce the provisions of §§ 276 through 302 of this
article throughout the State without any limitations as to jurisdiction, to the same extent
as a police employee of the Maryland State Police. This authority may only be exercised
in accordance with regulations adopted by the Superintendent of the Maryland State
Police. Such regulations are not subject to the provisions of Title 10, Subtitle 1 of the
State Government Article.

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative Departments

4-201.

(a) As used in this section:

(8) (i) "Police officer" means a person who has the authority to enforce
the general criminal laws of this State and is a member of any of the following law
enforcement units:

1.       Maryland State Police;

2.       Baltimore City Police Department;

3.       Police department, bureau, or force of a county;

4.       Police department, bureau, or force of an incorporated city
or town;

5.       State Aviation Administration Police Force, the Mass Transit
Administration Police Force, the Maryland Port Administration Police Force of the
Department of Transportation, or the [Toll Facilities] MARYLAND TRANSPORTATION
AUTHORITY Police Force [of the Maryland Transportation Authority];

6.       Police Force of the University of Maryland or Morgan State

University;                     

7.       Sheriff's department of any county or Baltimore City;
