(2)    IF ANY PERSON FAILS TO OBEY A SUBPOENA LAWFULLY SERVED
UNDER THIS SECTION, THE COMMISSION MAY IMMEDIATELY REPORT THE
DISOBEDIENCE AND PROVIDE A COPY OF THE SUBPOENA AND PROOF OF SERVICE
TO THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR CHARLES COUNTY.

(3)    THE COURT SHALL CONDUCT A HEARING AND MAY GRANT
APPROPRIATE RELIEF AFTER PROVIDING THE PERSON WHO ALLEGEDLY FAILED TO
COMPLY WITH SUBPOENA AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEARD.

(4) NOTHING CONTAINED IN THIS SECTION IS INTENDED TO ALLOW
THE CONTRAVENTION, DENIAL, OR ABROGATION OF ANY PRIVILEGE OR RIGHT
RECOGNIZED BY LAW.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, notwithstanding Section
1 of this Act, the membership of the Charles County Ethics Commission, as established by
local ordinance on October 1, 1993, shall continue in effect and the members of the
Commission serving on that date shall continue in office for the remainder of their
respective terms.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1993.
