AN ACT concerning

Code Counties - Development Excise Tax - Agricultural Land Preservation

FOR the purpose of authorizing the county commissioners of a code home rule county to
impose a development excise tax to finance the costs of purchasing development
rights on agricultural land; limiting the amount of the tax; requiring that the tax be
deposited in a certain account that may only be used for certain purposes; specifying
certain procedural requirements; and generally relating to authorization for and
imposition of a development excise tax by a code home rule county.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 25B - Home Rule for Code Counties

(a) "Code county" (as defined in Article XI-F of the Constitution, § 1) means a
county which is not a charter county under Article XI-A of the Constitution and which
has adopted the optional powers of home rule provided in Article XI-F of the
Constitution and this article.
