(viii) 1. Public health engineers and water resources engineers
employed by the State of Maryland or by any local subdivision who have a degree in
engineering from an accredited college or university or have completed a program of
studies judged by the Board to be substantially equivalent in subject matter and extent of
training; or

2. Professional engineers who are licensed in this State and
whose professional activities are normally included under paragraph (1) of this
subsection;

(ix) Hydrographers and hydrographic engineers;

(x) Natural resources managers;

(xi) Natural resources biologists;

(xii) Program administrators, administration directors, administrators,
administrative officers, and administrative specialists;

(xiii) Paraprofessional aides and technicians;

(xiv) Persons employed by the Maryland Department of Natural
Resources or related county departments who perform duties and responsibilities
pursuant, to the Natural Resources Article; and

(xv) Persons employed by the Department of the Environment or
related county departments who perform duties and responsibilities for erosion and
sediment control, stormwater management, and oil pollution control pursuant to Title 4
of the Environment Article.

(d)] "Hours of approved training" means the value given to participation in
continuing education or experience as approved by the Board.

[(e)](D) "License" means, unless the context requires otherwise, a license issued
by the Board to practice as AN [a registered] environmental sanitarian.

(E) "PRACTICE AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL SANITARIAN" MEANS, AS A MAJOR
COMPONENT OF EMPLOYMENT, TO APPLY, ON A ROUTINE BASIS, ACADEMIC
PRINCIPLES, METHODS AND PROCEDURES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL, PHYSICAL,
BIOLOGICAL, AND HEALTH SCIENCES TO THE INSPECTIONS AND INVESTIGATIONS
NECESSARY TO COLLECT AND ANALYZE DATA AND TO MAKE DECISIONS

(ii)    Health planners or natural resource planners;

(iii)   Building and housing inspectors;

(iv)    Geologists;

(v)     Chemists;

(vi)    Meteorologists;

(vii)   Laboratory scientists;
