1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

Article 88ASocial Services Administration

(c) (1) The other members of the local board shall be appointed by the local
governing authority. The local governing authority shall seek out and appoint persons
with a high degree of interest, capacity and objectivity, and who in the aggregate give a
countywide representative character to the local board.

(2) Except as provided in [paragraph] PARAGRAPHS (3) AND (4) of this
subsection, members of the local board shall be appointed for three year terms, to expire
on June 30 of the respective years of expiration, or until their successors are appointed.
Upon the expiration of two consecutive full terms the appointe
e shall be ineligible, for
on
e year thereafter, for reappointment.

(3)     In Charles County, a member shall be appointed for a 4-year term.

(4)     IN CECIL COUNTY, MEMBERS SHALL BE APPOINTED FOR 4 YEAR
STAGGERED TERMS.

(5) A vacancy occurring for any reason during a term shall be filled by
appointment for the remainder of the unexpired term.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, notwithstanding Article
2B, 150(a-1) of the Code as amended by Section 1 of this Act, a member of the Cecil
County Board of License Commissioners appointed effective July 1, 1993, shall be
appointed for a 5-year 4-year term to stagger the composition of the Board.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, notwithstanding Article
66B, § 3.02(b)(4) of the Code as amended by Section 1 of this Act, in August 1993, one
member two regular members and the alternate member of the Cecil County Planning
Commission shall be appointed for a 2-year 1-year term and one member terms; two
regular members
shall be appointed for a 3-year 2-year term terms; and 2 regular members
shall be appointed for 3-year terms
to stagger the composition of the Commission.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, notwithstanding Article
66B, § 4.07(b-3) of the Code as added by Section 1 of this Act, in August 1994, members
of the Cecil County Board of Appeals shall be appointed as follows: 1 member two
members for a 1-year term
one regular member and the alternate member for 1-year terms;
1 member for a 2-year term; 2 regular members for 3 year 2-year terms; and 1 member
for a
2 regular members for 4 year 3-year term terms to stagger the composition of the
Board.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, notwithstanding Article
88A, § 14(c)(
4) as amended by Section 1 of this Act, 1 member appointed to the Board
for the Cecil County Department of Social Servic
es effective July 1, 1993, shall be
appoint
ed for a 3 year term and 2 members shall be appointed for 4-year terms to stagger
the composition of the Board.
