1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

1. AN accidental disability retiree; OR RETIREE.

2. A RETIREE WHO HAS BEEN RECEIVING AN ORDINARY
DISABILITY RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS.

(VI) FOR A RETIREE WHO HAS BEEN RECEIVING AN ORDINARY
DISABILITY RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS, THE AMOUNT OF
THE PENSION REDUCTION REQUIRED UNDER SUBPARAGRAPH (II) OF THIS
PARAGRAPH AND ALLOWED UNDER SUBPARAGRAPH (III) OF THIS PARAGRAPH
SHALL BE ONE DOLLAR FOR EVERY FIVE DOLLARS BY WHICH THE RETIREE'S
CURRENT COMPENSATION EXCEEDS THE LIMITATION PROVIDED UNDER THIS
PARAGRAPH.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1993.

AN ACT concerning

Criminal Law - Protection of Witnesses and Victims

FOR the purpose of providing that, in a sentencing proceeding in which the State seeks
the death penalty, it is an aggravating circumstance that the defendant murdered a
victim or witness in violation of this Act; prohibiting the pretrial release of a
defendant if a certain findings made; making it a crime to confer or offer to confer
a benefit upon a victim or witness with a certain illegal intent;
making it a crime to
harm or injure a person or damage or destroy property or to threaten to harm or
injure a person or damage or destroy property with the intent to influence or induce
a victim or witness to take certain illegal actions; making it a crime to intentionally
harm or injure a person or damage or destroy property with the intent of retaliating
against a victim or witness for giving certain testimony or reporting a crime; making
it a crim
e to intentionally induce or attempt to induce a victim or witness to take
certain illegal actions;
providing certain penalties for violations of this Act and
increasing a certain penalty;
defining certain terms; authorizing courts with criminal
jurisdiction to issue certain orders to stop or prevent a violation of this Act certain
violations of law
or the intimidation of a victim of witness; authorizing a court to
revoke a defendant's pretrial release if the defendant violates an order issued under
this Act; and generally relating to the protection of victims and witnesses in criminal
proceedings.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
