Ch. 198                                     1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(1) [as to criminal proceedings, the District Court and any other court in
this State that exercises criminal jurisdiction ov
er the enforcement of laws respecting
duties of support;

(2) as to civil proceedings, the circuit court for any county and juvenile
courts having jurisdiction over th
e civil enforcement of laws respecting duties of support]
THE FAMILY COURT; and

[(3)] (2) as to proceedings in another state, the court of any other state as
defined in a substantially similar reciprocal law.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s) 1-605 through
1-608, 3-804 through 3-810.1, 3-814 through 3-831, 3-834 through 3-837, and 4-405,

respectively, of Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings of the Annotated Code of

Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s). 1-601 through. 1-607, 3-803 through 3-810,
3-813 through 3-835, and 4-403, respectively.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That all laws or parts of laws,
public g
eneral or public local, inconsistent with this Act, are repealed to the extent of the
inconsistency.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That it is the intent of the
G
eneral Assembly that judges appointed to the Family Court shall:

(1.) Have the temperament necessary to deal properly with the. cases and families
likely to com
e before the court; and

(2) Have special experience or training in family law or juvenile causes and the
probl
ems of families and children likely to come before the court.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That it is the intent of the
Gen
eral Assembly that the Court of Appeals Standing Committee on Rules of Practice
and Proc
edure review the Maryland Rules and recommend any changes necessary to
impl
ement the provisions of this Act.

SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That subject to the approval of
th
e Director of the Department of Legislative Reference, the publishers of the Annotated
Code of Maryland shall propose the correction of cross references that are rendered
incorrect by this Act.
                                                                                                   

SECTION 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the passage of this Act is

contingent on the passage of Chapter____ (S.B-------/H.B.____ )(3lr0685) of the Acts of

the General Assembly of 1993, a Constitutional Amendment, and its ratification by the
voters of the State.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:

(a) It is the intent of the General Assembly that:

(1) family, domestic, and juvenile matters be treated in the judicial system as
equally importantly as other matters, both civil and criminal;
