SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
1-101.
(a) In this title, the following words or terms have the meanings indicated.
(b) "Circuit court" means the circuit court for a county.
(c) "Court" means the Court of Appeals, Court of Special Appeals, circuit court,
FAMILY COURT, and District Court of Maryland, or any of them, unless the context
clearly requires a contrary meaning. It does not include an orphans' court, or the
Maryland Tax Court.
(d) "Judge" moans a judge of a court.

necessary by the case load their exclusive duty, the handling of juvenile causes.]
SUBTITLE 6A. FAMILY COURT
1-6A-01.
THE FAMILY COURT IS ESTABLISHED. IT IS THE COURT OF LIMITED
JURISDICTION CREATED BY ARTICLE IV, §§ 1 AND 27 THROUGH 34 OF THE
CONSTITUTION. IT IS A COURT OF RECORD AND SHALL HAVE A SEAL.

FOR THE PURPOSES OF OPERATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE FAMILY
COURT, THE STATE IS DIVIDED INTO THE FOLLOWING DISTRICTS:
(1) DISTRICT 1—DORCHESTER, WICOMICO, SOMERSET, AND
WORCESTER COUNTIES.
(2) DISTRICT 2—CAROLINE, TALBOT, QUEEN ANNE'S, KENT, AND CECIL
COUNTIES.
(3) DISTRICT 3—BALTIMORE COUNTY.
(4) DISTRICT 4—HARFORD COUNTY.
(5) DISTRICT 5—WASHINGTON AND FREDERICK COUNTIES.
(6) DISTRICT 6—ALLEGANY AND GARRETT COUNTIES.
