CHAPTER 195
(House Bill 1564)

AN ACT concerning

Miles Computer System— Child Support Warrants - Maryland Interagency Law

Enforcement System

FOR the purpose of requiring that the Department Maryland State Police to receive,
accept2 and incorporate civil child support warrants in the Maryland Interagency
Law Enforcement System (MILES); requiring the Department State Police to
cooperate with local child support enforcement offices and law enforcement
agencies; authorizing a law enforcement agency or officer to access the System for a
certain purpose; establishing certain responsibilities of local child support offices
and law enforcement agencies; defining certain terms; providing for the a delayed
effective date; and generally relating to the use of MILES computer system to assist
in the enforcement of child support warrants

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 88B - State Police

(A) Any law enforcement agency of the State or any State agency may be
permitted to connect with and use any teletypewriter, voice communication, data
communication, message switching or other communication system established by the
Department for statewide use. Such connection and use shall be subject to and in
accordance with rules established by the Superintendent to promote the purposes of this
subtitle, to insure the effective, economical, and efficient utilization of the entire system,
and to prevent interference with the law enforcement duties of the Department.
Violation of such rules shall constitute sufficient basis for withdrawal of permission to
connect with and use such system. To the extent permitted by specific budget
appropriation, the cost of rental of such equipment and the circuitry necessary thereto
