Ch. 3
LAWS OF MARYLAND
Subsection (a)(2) of this section is new language
added to provide a convenient cross-reference to
provisions that authorize the early administration of
the "fundamentals" examination.
Subsection (b) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first sentence of
former Art. 56, § 337(a).
Subsection (c) of this section is standard language
added to conform to the practice of the Board and to
similar provisions elsewhere in this article. It
provides an element of fundamental fairness by
requiring the Board to give qualified applicants
notice before the administration of examinations.
Subsection (d)(1) of this section is new language
added to restate the types of examinations that the
Board administers, as provided in the various
alternative licensing requirements under § 15-305 of
this subtitle.
Subsection (d)(2) of this section is new language
substituted for former Art. 56, § 335(d)(1)(ii), which
required examinations in "the fundamentals of property
line surveying" and in "principles and practice of
property line surveying". Under current practice, the
Board complies with the requirement for examination in
the "fundamentals of property line surveying" by

Examiners fundamentals examination to applicants both

for a license to practice land surveying. Also under
current practice, the Board complies with the
requirement for examination in the "principles and
practice of property line surveying" by administering
the first part of the "principles and practice"
examination that the Board gives to applicants for a
license to practice land surveying.
Subsection (e) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, §
337(c) and restated in language comparable to that
used throughout this article for similar provisions.
In subsection (b) of this section, the word
"periodically" is added for clarity and conformity to
the practice of the Board.
Former Art. 56, § 337(b), which precluded taking the
principles and practice of land surveying examination
