Ch. 3
LAWS OF MARYLAND
IF AN APPLICANT HAS TAUGHT LAND SURVEYING AS AN ASSOCIATE
PROFESSOR, OR IN A HIGHER POSITION, IN A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY,
THE BOARD MAY COUNT THE TEACHING EXPERIENCE AS WORK EXPERIENCE
FOR PURPOSES OF THE EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS UNDER ANY SUBSECTION
OF THIS SECTION.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, §
335(g), (h), the first sentence of (b)(1), the first
sentence of (2), and the first sentence of (3), and,
as it related to land surveyors, the fourth sentence
of (a).
In subsections (b)(1)(i) and (c)(1) of this section,
the references to graduation from a "college or
university" are added for clarity.
In subsections (b)(1)(ii) and (c)(2) of this section,
the word "additional", which formerly modified the
reference to experiences, is deleted as superfluous.
In subsection (c)(3)(i) of this section, the former
reference to the examination as being "designed to
show knowledge and skill equivalent to that obtained
through graduation from an approved four scholastic
year engineering curriculum" is deleted as unnecessary
and misleading since the examination required under
subsection (c)(3)(i) of this section is the same as
that given to an applicant who has graduated from an
approved curriculum.
In subsection (d)(2) of this section, in conformity
with the advice of the Office of the Attorney General,
the former phrase "without graduation" is deleted as
erroneous because, under some circumstances, it would
be appropriate to count the time allowed under
subsection (d)(2) even if the applicant had been
graduated. However, subsection (d)(2) of this section
is revised to apply only to subsection (d), to avoid
allowing an applicant to count the same time to meet
both educational and experience requirements.
In subsection (e) of this section, the reference to a
position in a "college or university" is added for
clarity.
Defined terms: "Board" § 15-101
"License" § 15-101
"Practice land surveying" § 15-101
15-306. APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES.
