In subsection (a)(2), (3), and (4) of this section,
the defined term "practice[d] certified public
accountancy" is substituted for the former word
"practice[d]", on the recommendation of the Board,
since its jurisdiction extends only to practicing
certified public accountancy.

2-409. USE OF PARTNERSHIP NAME BY SURVIVING PARTNER.

THE SURVIVING PARTNER OF A PARTNERSHIP THAT HOLDS A PERMIT
MAY USE THE PARTNERSHIP NAME FOR 1 YEAR AFTER THE DEATH OF THE
NEXT TO THE LAST PARTNER.

The reference to a partnership "that holds a permit"
is substituted for the former reference to a
partnership "of licensed certified public accountants"
to clarify that the authority granted Under this
section is available only to a partnership that
complies with § 2-401(b) of this subtitle. The
substituted language also avoids use of the term
"licensed certified public accountan[t]" in a context
in which the definition is too narrow.
