Ch. 3
discipline by the Board while the same disposition
after a plea of either not guilty or guilty with
respect to the same crimes precluded disciplinary
action. These additions expand the disciplinary power
of the Board and, therefore, are called to the
attention of the General Assembly.
Former Art. 75A, § 2-315(b)(2), which required an
individual whose license is suspended or revoked to
return to the Board each "document, issued under this
or any prior law of the State, that specifies that the
holder is a certified public accountant, a registered
certified public accountant, or an enrolled certified
public accountant", is deleted as obsolete. Since at
least July 1, 1986, the Board has issued licenses as
evidence that an individual is authorized to practice
certified public accountancy. See former Art. 75A, §
2-309 -- now § 2-309 of this subtitle. In light of
the provisions for termination and renewal of licenses
in former Art. 75A, § 2-311 -- now § 2-311 of this
subtitle -- provisions for surrender of expired
documents and for their return at the end of a
suspension period seem unnecessary. Accordingly, in
subsection (c) of this section, the words "license
certificate" are substituted for the former word
"document".
The only other changes are in style.
