VETOES

May 25, 1989

The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.

President of the Senate

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 883.

This bill repeals the wealth adjustments under the minimum grant
program and repeals the density requirement under the
supplemental grant program in the Police Aid Formula.

House Bill 1508, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 25, 1989, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 883.

Sincerely,

William Donald Schaefer

Governor

Senate Bill No. 883

AN ACT concerning

State Aid for Police Protection Services - Funding

FOR the purpose of repealing certain wealth adjustments for the

calculation of a certain minimum grant; repealing certain

density requirements for the calculation of a certain

supplemental grant; and generally relating to the

calculation of State aid to local subdivisions and certain
municipalities for police protection services.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 15A - Budget and Fiscal Planning

Section 37(b)(3) and (5)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1987 Replacement Volume and 1988 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
