WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor

(2)  REVOKE VOID THE LICENSEE'S INACTIVE STATUS
REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE; AND

(3)  RENEW THE LICENSEE'S LICENSE TO PRACTICE NURSING
IN THIS STATE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.

May 25, 1989

The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.

President of the Senate

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 765.

This bill allows the actively participating members of the
volunteer fire companies and rescue squads in Cecil County to be
considered workmen engaged in extra-hazardous employment for the
purpose of eligibility under workmen's compensation. It also
requires Cecil County to secure workmen's compensation benefits
for these members.

House Bill 941, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 19, 1989, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 765.

Sincerely,

William Donald Schaefer

Governor

Senate Bill No. 765

AN ACT concerning

Cecil County - Workers' Compensation - Volunteer Fire
and Rescue Personnel

FOR the purpose of extending workers' compensation benefits to
certain volunteer fire and rescue personnel in Cecil County;

- 4821 -
