(3) UNLESS OTHERWISE AUTHORIZED UNDER THIS TITLE, AN
INDIVIDUAL WHO PRACTICES PATENT LAW UNDER THIS SUBSECTION MAY
NOT:

(I)  APPEAR AS AN ATTORNEY AT LAW IN A COURT; OR

(II)  PRACTICE LAW GENERALLY IN THE STATE.
(D) SAME -- HOUSE COUNSEL.

(1)  SUBJECT TO PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION, THIS
SECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO AN INDIVIDUAL WHILE GIVING LEGAL ADVICE
TO A CORPORATION IN THIS STATE IF THE INDIVIDUAL IS:

(I)  EMPLOYED BY THE CORPORATION; AND

(II)  ADMITTED TO THE BAR OF ANY OTHER STATE.

(2)  AN INDIVIDUAL WHO GIVES LEGAL ADVICE UNDER THIS
SUBSECTION:

(I)   IS SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS AS
THE MARYLAND RULES PROVIDE; AND

(II)  MAY NOT APPEAR BEFORE A UNIT OF THE STATE
GOVERNMENT OR OF A POLITICAL SUBDIVISION UNLESS A COURT GRANTS
THE INDIVIDUAL A SPECIAL ADMISSION IN ACCORDANCE WITH § 10-215 OF
THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language derived without substantive change from the
first clause of the first sentence of former Art. 10,
§ 1 and, as it related to the power of the Court of
Appeals to impose on a lawyer admitted to the Bar an
additional fee as a condition precedent to the
practice of law, § 43(c) and rephrased in the standard
language used throughout this article to state
affirmatively that an individual shall be licensed to
practice a professional occupation in the State.

Subsection (b)(1) of this section is new language
derived without substantive change from the exception,
in the second clause of the first sentence of former
Art. 10, § 1, for "cases arising under §§ 9-1 through
9-8 ... of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore
City" and revised to apply to representation of a
landlord in a summary ejectment proceeding in any
county. Under RP § 8-401(b), a landlord or the
attorney or "duly qualified agent" of the landlord may
file for summary ejectment in the District Court of
Maryland in the county where the property is located.
Practice in the District Court throughout the State
allows a landlord in a summary ejectment proceeding to
