WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor Ch. 803

BY adding to

Article 38A - Fires and Investigations

Section 12B to be under the new subheading "Sprinkler

Systems"
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1986 Replacement Volume and 1988 Supplement)

Preamble

WHEREAS, A properly installed and operating sprinkler system
effectively helps to control the spread of fire, thereby allowing
more time for evacuation of a building, and helping to reduce
fire related injuries, deaths, and property damage; and

WHEREAS, A sprinkler system by itself cannot adequately
protect life and property from fire related damage, injury, and
death; and

WHEREAS, In addition to and in concert with strategically
located fire stations and equipment, adequately staffed fire
apparatus and fire departments, and properly trained personnel,
the installation of sprinkler systems would have a marked impact
on life safety; now, therefore,
