Ch. 788                                       LAWS OF MARYLAND

AGENCIES THAT ARE EXEMPTED FROM THIS SUBTITLE UNDER § 9-1601(C)
OF THIS SUBTITLE AND THE REASONS FOR THE EXEMPTIONS.

(B) THE COUNCIL SHALL MEET AT A REGULAR TIME AND PLACE TO
BE DETERMINED BY THE COUNCIL.

Article 64A - Merit System

3.

The following positions shall not be included in the
classified service:

(1)  Those held by officers elected by popular vote
and officers whose appointment or election is provided by the
Constitution, including deputy clerks provided for by Article IV,
§ 26 of the Constitution;

(2)  Officers and employees of the General Assembly or
of either house thereof;

(3)  Any register of wills, clerk of court, or any
State's Attorney;

(4)  Supervisors of assessments in the several
counties and Baltimore City;

(5)  The deputy and assistant attorneys general and
all other attorneys employed in, or connected with, the Office of
the Attorney General, except where a specific statutory provision
includes any such person in the classified service;

(6)  The general counsel and assistant general counsel
of the Public Service Commission;

(7)  The general counsel and the assistant general
counsels to the State Human Relations Commission;

(8)  Members of boards and commissions and all other
persons holding positions by direct appointment from the Governor
or from the Board of Public Works with the exception of the Motor
Vehicle Administrator;

(9)  All secretaries, chief clerks, and chief
administrative officials of all State offices, boards,
commissions, departments, and institutions as determined by the
Secretary with the approval of the Governor;

(10)  Employees of or assigned to the executive
mansion;

(11)  Members of the State Aviation Administration and
toll facilities police forces, except that members of these
